Hiring an illustrator is new to me, so please forgive me if what I am asking is not worth your time. My wife has written a number of children’s stories for our nieces. The goal was never to have them published or illustrated, but for her 40th birthday I would like to surprise her with a hardbound copy of her first story.
The original plan was to have a completely finished book for her on her Birthday, but ultimately it’s her book, so I want to include her in the creative process. So rather than present her with the fully illustrated version, I would like to put a hardbound book together with some work from a number of artists I think she might like, then have her choose one to move forward with.
So this is my request. I would like you to take a look at the story, and then produce some thumbnails, and at least one completed illustration of your interpretation of the main character. If this is something you would be willing to work with me on, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m really impressed with the work on your site, and would love to see how you would handle the project.
If it’s something you might be interested in, could you provide me with some of your info? Rate, availability, etc?
